Phil, can the quality be changed on the fly as you save the jpeg or is it picked up as a variable only so often?
Ie can we use a 50% quality for saving, jumping to 90% on alarm etc etc?

Currently no. But as with many of your suggestions, it's annoyingly useful enough that it will probably go into the next release
