I've got diagnostic debugging turned on, and noticed these in the logs:
Jun 23 16:32:18 zm zma_m1[28808]: ERR [Can't open events/Monitor1/diag-12-1.jpg: No such file or directory]
Jun 23 16:32:23 zm last message repeated 6 times

Any idea what's going on?
I do see two diags file, but it's under:
events/1/ and they're named diag-r.jpg amd diag-d.jpg

I'm pretty sure this is a permissions issue. The apache user isn't able to read/write files in that directory.

I'm having the same problem, but I don't have the time to investigate right now. I've already spent at least 12 hours trying to get ZM running on Gentoo.

Yes, permissions problem. See thread http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6304.

Using
"chown apache:apache /var/www/localhost/htdocs/zm/events"
"chown apache:apache /var/www/localhost/htdocs/zm/images"

Solved the problem for me. I guess I lied about not looking into this. ZM is just so addicting! I'm anxious to try it out live!
