Some questions about ZM features

Post by msevestre »

Hello !

I wanted to create a security system and I found this marvelous SW... a big BRAVO ! I downloaded the Ross' ZoneMinder LiveCD v1.22.2 and it works perfectly.

I am using currently one Axis 207w camera but I plan to use 10 or 15 in total... I am now able to see my camera's pictures and to create detection zones (only very simple area for now)...

I have some questions:

- is it possible to use the Axis 207W sound feature (sound recording) ?

- what about the MPEG4 support of this camera ?

- If a have a 10 cameras system setup... can I record during the day 5 cameras and during the night all of them ?

- what are the actions that can be raised when an event is detected ? and how ? (for exemple, how to send an Email or to send to a FTP some images of the detected event, or any other action)

- is it possible to have different behaviour/configuration of ZoneMinder depending on time (for exemple a 100% image move detection area during the day and only very small areas for the night) ?

- is there a way to have a full time recording and let ZoneMinder manage itself the removal of oldest alarm events (when a configured max disk size is reached for exemple) ?

- if I have 3 HDD in my PC: one with the OS & ZM and two disks of 500Gb each for event storage. Is there a way to configure ZM to fill in the first disk and then switch to the other 500Gb HDD and then go back to first one when it's full (using the feature of the previous question) ?

Thanks for any information on those topics

Not currently. Sound support is very much overdue and in the pipeline and so will arrive at some point. However as I don't have a 207 I can't say for sure that it will support the audio on that cam initially.

See above. Mpeg support is started but only for cameras that stream mpegs down an httpd connection. Axis use a multicast method that currently is harder to capture.

Yes using Zm run states and cron.

This should all be in the README.

Not currently, but it is in the roadmap.

Yes, using filters. See PurgeWhenFull in the FAQ or in the README.

ZM itself will not do this however you may be able to create a single logical volume shared over two disks and instruct ZM to use that. It will not toggle between the disks though.

Hello

Thanks very much for your replay. I got some part of answer yesterday after a bg forum read session...

Unluckily yesterday I got a problem (disk full) and nothing is working anymore :(

I open another tread to speak about this.
