Cameras not showing up

Post by jdblank »

I just installed the LiveCD version. I have one USB Camera (plugged in) and one 4 port video card with a camera attached two one port. The card is made by Elyssa.

I can't get any picture to come up from either camera. I am not 100% sure of the source settings for the USB cam. The source setting for the card are in as /dev/video0 (i have tried 1-4 as well).

I am relatively new to linux so this is probably the biggest problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

id concentrate on getting your cams working with tvtime before getting them into zm. You will probably find you will have to configure your card manually if not autodetected

bttv: driver version 0.9.16 loaded
bttv: using 8 buffers with 2080k (520 pages) each for capture
bt878: AUDIO driver version 0.0.0 loaded
The bttv driver is loaded but does not seem to detect a bttv device. Either your 4 input card doesn't use the conexant bt878 chip or maybe it's not seated correctly in the pci slot.
4 input cards that work well with ZM are inexpensive from various sources.

It seems that two usb webcam drivers were loaded which may be why this device is not working. Try running the command "modprobe -r spca5xx " to remove the second driver and then see if you can get output from the usb cam with tvtime or xawtv.
