Broken Images

Greetings. Am having a bit of an issue getting the images from my camera into Zoneminder (version 1.22.2). My capture card does indeed work, as I can successfully view the camera input through a media player.

Firstly, upon rebooting, Zoneminder starts up in the Stopped state, if this is indicative of anything. Once I start it, everything nearly works; it's capturing 'events', though both the events and the live stream are broken images - by broken I mean the browser default for an image that's just not there.

Logs aren't indicative of anything, no complaints in any of the several log files. zmdc.log shows:
server starting,
zmc -d /dev/video2 starting, (which is the correct path)
zmfilter.pl starting,
zmaudit.pl starting,
zmwatch.pl starting, and
zmudpate.pl starting

- if this helps.

Any thoughts??

Many thanks,

Scott

Are there any images saved in the events folder?
What logs have you checked?
What parts of the troubleshooting in the README or the Wiki have you followed?
What distro are you using?

Regards,
Corey

No images saved in the events folder.

Checked all the logs in the log directory (on my system /tmp); nothing exciting. zmfilter is scanning for events, zmaudit found database monitor 1 and got 13 events for it, zmwatch indicates watchdog starting and pausing for 30 seconds, zmpkg indicates zoneminder startup, and zmdc as before.

I'm using Ubuntu Dapper, and have changed my cgi-bin path to /usr/lib/cgi-bin and toyed with both zms and nph-zms, as per previous posts.

As for troubleshooting, all packages, libraries and modules needed seem to be there. Have tried various colour palettes, as suggested, to no avail.

Hope this helps (and thank you for the quick reply).

Gratefully,

Scott

CGI?

Sound like it's apt to be a cgi-bin problem to you? If you have any thoughts on a couple things that are the likely offenders, I shall focus my attentions there.

Have you checked your /var/log/messages (or maybe /var/log/syslog)?
Have you checked your /var/log/httpd/error_log?

Syslog Messages

/var/log/syslog gives:

Aug 18 08:50:57 localhost zmc_dvideo2[5308]: INF [Temp1: 827000 - Capturing at 4.90 fps]
Aug 18 08:54:21 localhost zmc_dvideo2[5308]: INF [Temp1: 828000 - Capturing at 4.90 fps]

/var/log/messages gives the same.

As for the httpd error logs:

[Fri Aug 18 09:03:39 2006] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: /var/www/usr, referer: http://localhost/zm/index.php?view=watc ... 0&control=
[Fri Aug 18 09:03:44 2006] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: /var/www/usr, referer: http://localhost/zm/index.php?view=watc ... 0&control=

...which ought to be indicative of something - anything jump out at you?

Many thanks,

Scott

Events Capture

If it helps, in mocord mode, it does successfully capture events (i.e. when I wave my hand in front of the camera it generates alarm frames and an event as expected, it's just filled with broken images).

I think I'm off in my paths? My paths are set to the default of:
ZM_DIR_EVENTS = events
and ditto for images and sounds.

i'm having the same exact problem. it's on a camera that records many hundreds of events in a day. the events are there, the pictures are not, though.

i stoped and restarted the service. that seems to have resolved the problem.

Timeline

So I'm successfully recording images now - it helps to allow ZM write access to the events folder...still, I can only view them in the Timeline, no live streaming JPEG's.
