zm mpeg4 decoding for cameras supporting it + hardware accel

Hi

I read people's posts saying that mpeg4 support is expected in the (not so near) future, but i was wondering what seems to be the holdup ?

I deal with 3d accelerators (GPUs) and it would be an interesting challenge to write a hardware accelerated decoder for mpeg4 streams and incorporate it into ZM.

I'd like to know exactly what are the benefits of this (using mpeg4) would be? What is the current bottleneck in the whole ZM capturing/modet process?
I am also quite sure that motion detection can be hardware assisted as well.

Regards
Alex

The main bottleneck for mpeg support is my lack of time at the moment. When I can shed some of the other jobs I have to do I should be able to return to it.

You can use camera built-in motion detection to trigger events if you can interface to them, by using zmtrigger.
