Looking for info regarding setting up an 8 camera system. Presently running CTU & 2 cameras with a single chip grandtec card. Need to upgrade to 8 cameras & not sure which path to go regarding video card. Reading the wiki & forum I am leaning twards either spectra8 or lmlbt44 cards and wondering if I should go with 2 cards or if using the daughter card will be sufficient. All cameras will be setup with motion record. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A single card with daughter will work fine if you don't want more than about 10fps for each camera, and you're happy with the limitation that each pair of inputs (that shares a chip) has to be configured the same, ie same size and signal type etc. For full flexibility (and more expense) two cards will allow the full 25 fps or so per input, though I doubt you would need that.

Thanks for the reply Phil,
Any preference between the spectra8 & lmlbt44 cards, or which might play better with CTU & any future release?

I have used both and there isn't a lot of difference. Once upon a time you needed to patch the kernel to use the LML daughter board but I don't know if that's still true or not. The spectra has always worked with 8 inputs.
