Gadspot GS1000, Gadspot GS1200, or Panasonic BL-C10

Post by kspurr »

I'm currently trying to choose between 3 IP Cams to be used to monitor the front of my house from a window above my front door. Ideally, I'd like to keep tabs on the neighborhood kids who've recently developed a new penchant for vandalizing cars in front of people's houses... I may also stick another camera out back to watch the yard/garage.

It seems like all of the cams below are supported and the Panasonic even has supported PTZ, but the Gadspots do come equipped with IR (though there aren't many so they may be useless).

I'd love to hear any opinions that you guys may have about the 3 cams below or any other good ip cams for around $100-$200 USD.

I don't know all that much about the cams per se, but one thing I would be careful of is having an IR emitter on the cam behind a pane of glass. I suspect you would get quite a lot of reflection as they are not usually totally black. If you want IR you will need to either open the window or put an external source outside.

Just low-light is sometimes enough for street lit roads though, you may not need IR as such.

Thank you, that is very good to know. I hadn't even really thought about that as a possible issue.
