Watchdog in zoneminder?

Post by jeffshern »

Looking at zoneminder logs, I see mention of watchdog events. Does zoneminder have a built in watchdog timer? Or should I use a seperate watchdog timer daemon?

Is anyone else using the watchdog built into some of these multi-head video capture cards, I just guessed that one side hooked up to the reset button, and one side hooked to the reset spot on the MB. There is very little information about these, and which module to use.

I have been having a lot of problems with my system locking up, usually nothing in the messages file (I'd check now, but it's locked up, and I'm away! I need to train the cat to reboot the server, I guess.)

The only watchdog in ZM as such is zmwatch.pl which just checks to see when the last image was captured and, if it wasn't for a certain period, restarts the capture daemons. This was originally to get round some lockups that could occur in the bttv driver and/or blocked up sockets for netcams.
