I am new to DVR cards, but have been around linux and open source for a good while. I made a mistake and wound up buying without prior researching. I bought this camera and dvr capture board kit from 123cctv.com and am finding out that the hardware only works with their cheesy windows program. I called their support and they confirmed this. I am hoping this only applies to the windows side of things. Does anyone know if this will work with zoneminder. From an initial impression, this looks like the software package I need to be using. Here is all the hardware specifics I could glean from windows:
What vendor calls it: Digicam 120 capture card
Driver name during install: ARGUS SDK WDM Video Capture
Driver name during install: ARGUS SDK WDM Audio Capture
Name in Device Manager: DiGiCam Video Capture Device (2769)
Name in Device Manager: DiGiCam Audio Capture Device (2769)
Name on properties tag of sys driver: Central Alarm Systems, Inc.
Name on device info dialog: Di878
Driver name: Di878V.sys

Well, after swapping hardware in and out, I finally got it to boot (and go into X). Geforce2 card, just freezes. Diamond Stealth64 just goes into command prompt, etc. Riva128 finally turned out to work. Now the PC reboots after being in X for a couple minutes. I did manage to get a video signal before the reboot. I then pulled the capture card and the rebooting stopped. I am suspecting some sort of hardware watchdog that the windows driver is coded to stroke. Any suggestions?
I am convinced now that there is a hardware watchdog. I did a google search on ARGUS and watchdog and found this link which mentions a hardware watchdog:

The digicam xp driver mentions argus in one of its titles.
Is there any functionality to make zoneminder stroke this watchdog?
