ZM's Portuguese language HOWTO for dummies - Kurumin Linux

Post by Barbado »

By the way,

as I walked through ZM's installation, I learned stuff which was organized as a manual for future reference since I used the unusual Kurumin Linux distro (Debian/Knoppix/Kanotix based), pretty popular here in Brazil.
Note that I tried to install it several times before achieving raw functional status (thanks to Corey, James, Phil and others here as well), so I learned a lot:

Recently, a friend of mine improved this material content in order for us to put it at Kurumin's website (http://www.guiadohardware.net/kurumin), which I think might constitute a substantial contribution for ZM's potential users in Brazil. This is an amazing software and others must be told about it.

Please, let me know if there is any interest in this material which I would be really happy to send to you people.

Best Regards

Thanks for posting this. Do you think you could add an entry to the Wiki detailing it and/or where to find it. There are distro specific sections in there.

Ok Phil,

As soon as it gets "published" in the referred website, I'll put it in the wiki.

"published"

Post by Barbado »

hey Phil, how are you doing.

well the text is ready and "published" in Kurumin's official website at:

http://www.guiadohardware.net/tutoriais ... oneminder/

see the whole text is in the Portuguese language.

so concerning ZM's wiki, you want me to put the link only or you think it's better to paste the text itself (in Portuguese) in the wiki?

I think you need to edit that docment:
To Clearify that "ZoneMinder works with types MPEG and M-JPEG of streaming" only as streaming methods and not as capture methods or mention that currently ZM can only capture MJPEG and jpeg snapshots. Other than that, it looks great.

I would just put the link to the document in the wiki so should you update the document, changes would not need to be mantained in the Wiki.

Got it,

I'll submit those information to Kurumin's website, Corey.

But I have no direct access to the website's content so I cannot easily edit it.
thus, it might take a while to update the current content with these additional remarks.

And I'm going to put its link in the wiki as well.

Thanks.

capture methods

Post by Barbado »

Ok gentlemen,

can someone give me a guidance like a related topic link with sort of a more detailed description on ZM's capture methods (M-JPEG and JPEG snapshots). I have searched already with no good results.

I'm going to improve the text and I would really appreciate even a brief technical explanation.

For instance, why the capture daemon cannot utilize MPEG method?

Thanks
