Secure Console

Post by Taz »

Hi All

Thanks for bringing the community this Terrific program!

This is my first post and i'm looking to some help in how to secure the ZM console, i mean, i wan to let people access it to see my cameras, but don't want to leave the config options open to anyone, is there a way to do that ??

like, i want something like:

Cam 1
Cam 2
Cam 3

etc

No problem to stay with the control panel interface, i just want to hide the configure stuff..

is there a way to do that in console ??

Thanks

Yay, I can help someone!!!

OK,

Log into console
Select options at top right
In first tab, 2nd option down "ZM_OPT_USE_AUTH Authenticate user logins to ZoneMinder"......Check this one

You will then have a new tab at far RHS called users
Click this tab
Click "add new" user
Add user name and password for new user
Select enabled - yes
Select stream - View
and leave the rest at none.

That should do it

(wow my first help in return :D

Well, I did exactly what was described here but as soon as I saved the change to allow authentication, the screen refrehed and prompted me for a user name and password. My zoneminder user name and password are not working so now I'm locked out?

P.S. version 1.22.3 on XUbuntu

Help...

Update: I was able to log in with a fix to the mysql entry, but I tried the same thing again and ended up in the same place. The "users" tab does not show up after enabling authentication and also does not show up after clicking "save". I end up with the login screen and no way to log in.

Login as 'admin' with no password...

You'll then have access to the Users tab. First job should of course be setting a password for Admin... :)
