Problem: big_alarmzone=ok small_alarmzone=headache

Hello,

I did a fresh install of ZM on a Fedora 6 Box. Everything is working fine. I attached
6 Gadspot Network-Cams.

But playing around with Alarm-Zones some problems arised.

If the Alarmzone covers the whole Picture everything is ok.
But if the Alarmzone is less then 50% of the picture size, the system is generating
error-bulks like attached. When I increase the Alarmzone everything is working
perfect again. I tried it with different settings and presets - always the same
behaviour. Increasing the Buffer-Size as well as increasing the Shared-Mem
Buff doesn´t help.
pict-size is 320x240 24bit.

Has anyone a hint what I made wrong?

regards
Bernhard

never used zm on 64bit so that may be an issue

I had the same problems with a Fedora-6 32bit Installation on the
same machine. It´s an Intel dual-core.

just a suggestion. I would suggest that its a bug if it works above 50% of area but not below. Not sure as i think all my zones are over 50%

Check that you settings for you zone don't exceed the the area of the zone.

cordel,

thanks for your answer. But the parameters for the zone weren´t bigger
then the zone itself.
My present workaround is: defining a very big zone and then overlaying
this Zone with inactive Zones. Some extrawork for my computer - but
a working solution ;-)

Bernhard

I have added a section to the Wiki detailing what to do with this kind of log, using your messages as an example :)

Can you follow the instructions at http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... do_I_do.3F and post the results as I am curious about why this is happening.

Can you confirm this is v1.22.3? The zm_zone.cpp line doesn't look right.

Phil,

yes, this is a fresh 1.22.3 install (no upgrade ....)

The header of zm_zone.cpp shows: $Date: 2006/05/08 12:46:23 $, $Revision: 1.40 $

#ls -l zm_zone.cpp
-rw-rw-r-- 1 501 501 29688 8. Mai 2006 zm_zone.cpp

I am running on a multiprocessor IBM-342 eserver.

Can post details also if it would help.

Same thing here, if it a fedora6 problem?
