i am ashamed to admit it, but my zoneminder is so gosh-darned reliable it just sits there, runs ... and I forget about it....

of course when I do have occassion to sign in I realize the timestamps are drifting (or daylight savings or someething kicked in) and I wonder if its possible to have a way to set the time from the zm gui? Yes it is a conveniece and of course there are better ways to do this automatically.... just a thought :-)

Why not just set NTP so that you box pulls the time from one of the many NTP Time servers? Really good chance that it's already installed on your machine.

it's a Ross LiveCD. The only thing is it's stuck behind a rather aggressive firewall (orange dmz in ipcop) which forbids outgoing traffic but I guess that can be worked around. thanks!

If I remember correctly, I think Ross includes Webmin on his Distro like I do so you would be able to set it through that interface. Try to bring up this page on your ZM server:
https://<zm_server_ip>:10000

Webmin should come up ad login with your root login.
