Problem with BTTV on Kodicom 8800

Post by amppjunior »

Hi,

First of all I would like to congratulate all the people that worked on Zoneminder, it is a very good software.

I have successfully installed it with cards=77, card=132 and cards=102, but I was not able to have it with two kodicom 8800. For some reason after some time 4 channels will just stop working (go red) while the others will be all right. Also the following error message can be seen on dmesg:

bttv1: reset, reinitialize
bttv1: PLL can sleep, using XTAL (28636363).
bttv12: reset, reinitialize
bttv12: PLL can sleep, using XTAL (28636363).
bttv5: reset, reinitialize
bttv5: PLL can sleep, using XTAL (28636363).
bttv8: reset, reinitialize
bttv8: PLL can sleep, using XTAL (28636363).
bttv12: timeout: drop=0 irq=27481/110338, risc=05bd501c, bits: FMTCHG VSYNC HSYNC RISCI
bttv1: timeout: drop=0 irq=27811/110351, risc=1a62503c, bits: FMTCHG VSYNC HSYNC RISCI
bttv5: timeout: drop=0 irq=27694/110346, risc=0896a03c, bits: VSYNC HSYNC RISCI
bttv8: timeout: drop=0 irq=27608/110342, risc=2121303c, bits: FMTCHG VSYNC HSYNC RISCI

Please notice that the channels are not necessarily these. If I rmmod and modprobe again, it will go back to normal and after some time it will give me the same problem on different or the same channels.

Here are the configurations I'm using:

uname -a:
Linux nag 2.6.19-1.2895.fc6 #1 SMP Wed Jan 10 19:28:18 EST 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

modprobe.conf:
options bttv gbuffers=16 card=102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102,102

PS: Same thing happens when I change gbuffers to other value such as 4, 8, etc.

Each camera is using 5 FPS.

Image Buffer Size: 10
Warmup Frames: 8
Pre Event Image Buffer: 3
Post Event Image Buffer: 3
Alarm Frame Count: 1

I have also tried:
Image Buffer Size: 20
Warmup Frames: 15
Pre Event Image Buffer: 4
Post Event Image Buffer: 4
Alarm Frame Count: 1

Hardware:
Pentium D 2.8
1GB RAM
2GB Swap

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Antonio Pacheco

I was having similar problems. These cards don't mix very painlesslly.

# cat /proc/interrupts

see if each card has it's own interrupt. And try diffrent cards=102...103...102 combinantions.

For my mini-monitoring (32 inputs, 8 bttv/bt878a chips + 4 inputs,1bttv/bt878a) i mixed "big" Kodicom with small "104" card, it works.
