Right now I'm not sure if this is a packaging problem, or a zoneminder problem. Could you please go through at length the steps you've taken. Starting from what you've already said:
- apt-get install zoneminder
linked the apache config fragment
got to http://{hostname}/zm
So far correct? Could you now talk through how you defined your camera (video source, resolution, etc)? And do you see a broken link on the viewing page, or just a blank box?

The key part of the output is this bit
==> /tmp/zmwatch.log <==
03/21/07 17:20:12.705177 zmwatch[2961].INF [Restarting capture daemon for CAM1, shared memory not valid]

03/21/07 17:20:33.146187 zmwatch[2961].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 07/03/21 17:20:33, pid = 4028]
03/21/07 17:20:43.150909 zmwatch[2961].INF [Restarting capture daemon for CAM1, shared memory not valid]
03/21/07 17:20:43.297920 zmwatch[2961].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 07/03/21 17:20:43, pid = 4030]
03/21/07 17:20:53.307485 zmwatch[2961].INF [Restarting capture daemon for CAM1, shared memory not valid]
03/21/07 17:20:53.453734 zmwatch[2961].INF ['zmc -d /dev/video0' starting at 07/03/21 17:20:53, pid = 4032]
Note the "shared memory not valid"
If you search on "shared memory" in the forums you'll find a
wealth of posts about problems with shared memory, including two threads by me having troubles with them
My initial guess is that, somewhere along the way, a block of shared memory got left around. But I could be wrong, and there's lots of posts about it.
At this stage I don't think it's specific to the debian package, though I'm ready to be proven wrong. Let me know how your search goes.

so the problem is in the key memory?
i have change them after
#ipcs -m and no result

That could be one of the problems. Another could be related to permissions on /dev/video0 - what are they?

my /dev/video0 run under xawtv in single user or root
This isn't xawtv

Yes, but I've found zm to be much fussier about permissions. Specifically it seems to want o+rw.

in zm
dev/video0 is not in red
change permission

How to change permission for dev/video0 for zm ?
i must change group in www-data and +rw ?

The simplest form is
either with sudo or as root.
However, I think you're right; it should be red (not orange) in the zoneminder screen if perms was the problem. So it doesn't hurt to try, but don't be too hopeful. Also, make sure you stop and restart zm around the change.
But basically I'm hoping someone like Cordel is going to jump in to this thread sometime soon as I'm running out of obvious suggestions.

I was just getting up to speed on the package installation for Deb in the wiki so hopefully it's still correct. First I need more active log notes (See
here for direction on this) or root ssh access to the machine (which info should be PMed to me for obvious reasons) so that I can look at the logs and make necessary changes. If you sources are showing up green then this is a good thing and usualy means that zms is able to capture an image from the device.
