I apologize in advance I have tried to track down this information in a way I can understand but I guess I'm just not getting it. I have a machine with 2 gigs of ram, I am going to go to 4 gigs so I can increase the buffers in ZM. I'm running FC4, could someone tell me what the values should be for shared memory? 134217728 is 256MB correct? I want somethingl like 3.5 gig?? no ?? TIA

No as i understand shared mem that long figure is in Bytes so you can work it out but it isnt 256meg.
Im not sure that setting your shared mem that high is a great idea. i cant see nay reason why you would need your shared mem that high unless your doing something very wierd

Hi Blaxer
The string you have printed looks to be around 128Megs of shared memory, i have a nasty habbet of dedicating about half of the physical memory to shared memory, since (from what i understand) ZM will use the shared memory to handle pics, so the more cams you have attached to your ZM box and the higher the resolution these cams are running = more shared mem needed.
If iam not mistaken then a better explaination is on the WiKi try looking there.

Thanks for the help thus far, I have read the wikki a few times now and reading through these I'm a little more comfortable. Half of the physical RAM is a good yardstick. If I set my shared memory to half the physical RAM and I still get errors what then? More RAM? Faster machine? It's a core 2 2.x ghz 4gb of ram. I have 15 cameras, 11 are 320x240 and 4 are 640x480. I tend to increase the buffers on all of them as much as I can because they tend to not get pre or post event frames unless I do. Any thoughts are greatly apprciated.
