don't record big screen changes

I have two cameras that the image seems to bounce about every 60 seconds. I don't know what causes the bounce but I thought I could tell zoneminder not to record if 90% of the pixels in the zone change which I would think a bounce would do. Unfortunately this does not work. Does anyone have a good way to fix so that zoneminder does not record when the entire image shifts down a quarter inch then right back up. Thanks for any help.

You might try creating a 'preclusive' zone in an area that does not normally see motion. This will stop the recording of motion detected anywhere else. Keep the preclusive zone faily small.

The entire screen jumps. I have only about 60% of the screen marked as an active zone. Since I need to watch this 60% unless I am confused the preclusive zone won't help me since it also jumps in my active area.
I was hoping to say since it changed so much don't catch it.

If you place a small preclusive zone somewhere that doesn't normally see motion, it will not affect your active zone during normal operation, However, when the whole picture moves, the preclusive zone will see motion and stop the active zone from alerting on the motion. I use this technique to keep the large lighting changes from triggering events.

Thanks, I went back and reread the definition on the zone types and from your explination also I understand what you are saying now. I'll give it a shot and let you know if it works. Thanks for clarifying that for me.
