I am having the same errors.

Plus the system ends with no memory.

I am testing zone minder in my normal use computer, wich is running Ubuntu Feisty. Its a AMD Ahtlon x2 4200 with 2gig ram and two hd (240 and 320). I used the deb in the wiki, plus had to edit to allow more buffer size to get my 640x480 cam working as it says in the FAQ.

When I turn the only camera (IP cam) I am using into modect mode the system starts "eating memory", almost literally. I rebooted the computer and went to system monitor and could see how the amount of RAM was going down without doing nothing else. It was like 0.1% every two seconds, without stoping for about a minute. I left home and when I came back the virtual memory was gone as well (3gig). Now the system is very slow and it has 4% and 5% left of real memory and virtual memory. Zone Minder still working fine and detecting all events.

And I get the same message in the logs. This is weird cause I tried zoneminder in Edgy and it was working fine. Had to focus on other things and now that I has time this errors is happening.

PD: In another post it happens the same error and is related to permisions. I have given the permisions it says in the wiki (the same in the mentioned post), and still having problems.

Ok. Problem solved. It wasnt the first warning in the wiki but the second one. nph_zms was causing the memory leak. Changing it to zms solved it completly and now its working fine.

This worked for me also. In options, changing ZM_PATH_ZMS from /cgi-bin/nph_zms to just /cgi-bin/zms finally brought up my video ..

Suppose i posted too soon... The monitor works fine, but looking at zones I have no video (broken image)?

also under zones I get this warning:
Warning: chdir() [function.chdir]: No such file or directory (errno 2) in /var/www/localhost/htdocs/zoneminder/zm_html_view_zones.php on line 26

Has anyone other than the devs setup zm?

yes planty of people but i havnt been tracking this topic, if you want an easy time use either the live cd or ctu zm. They will just work, apart from video config of cards

I have done 5 systems ranging from 4 to 16 cams on Ubuntu with Peter's .db files. Works fantastic. I actually did a demo tonight at the ubuntu loco meeting.
