I could be wrong, but I think these are MPEG4 only cameras. If they are, then they are not currently supported by ZM.

hi,
I know it's an old post, but I just wanted to clarify that ip7138 works fine with zoneminder (other posts seem to imply it has problems)
I have just set up a system with 5 cameras
it does mpeg, but also jpeg

davide

It does just jpeg snapshots no mjpeg?
What kind of frame rate are you getting out of it?
How long have you had the cameras running with ZM?

sorry, I meant mjpeg
the camera claims up to 30 fps and up to 800x600 resolution
watching the stream from videlan in 640x480 it looks like the framerate is correct (or anyway very high)

right now I have zoneminder running with 5 of this cameras, running mocord at 10fps 320x200. after some testing, the setup has been running non stop for the last 10 days. it also has two other analog cameras captured with a PV-143

http://<ip>/video.mjpg but you first need to go to "Configuration -> Audio and video" and set stream1 (or stream2) to mode "JPEG." If you use stream2, use "video2.mjpg" in the URL instead.

I used this at first, but found just grabbing the still image was more reliable. I'm using one 7138 and several 7131's, but the 7131 doesn't support MJPEG so I had to grab the individual image for those anyway.

Best thing is to read though the Wiki which will certainly guide you on your way, also documentation can be downloaded and read at your leisure..

Good luck,

Only jpeg.
Path: /cgi-bin/video.jpg

If you want MPEG4 you must use vloopback and vpipi (look at wiki), or wait 1.24 zm support MPEG4

Vivotek site has a lot of usesfull info.

Willem, try first only jpeg settins, as you currently have (cgi-bin/video).
At the vivotek cam control, mute audio, and for the first tests, set the size as 320 x 240, and do the same at ZM.
Read the FAQ at the wiki for shared memory issues.

I've changed the settings as asked but still does not work.

Still nothing if I view the camera

/var/log/messages gives
But the username and password is correct
zms[32007]: ERR [Unable to authenticate user]

Will the shared memory be a problem on one PC running Fedora 9 and one camera.

If you turn debug on, for process _zmc and set it at about 3, You should have errors in the debug logs that tell you why.
