Strange B&W problem

Hi all.
I've been running ZM 1.22.1 for a while now with an old TV tuner card, which has worked very well.
Recently I was given a 4-channel capture card so I thought I'd give it a shot with ZM. From what I can see on the card, it's BT878A based.
I've got it working under ZM but the images are in black and white. What's interesting though is that if I'm using just one input and monitoring that, then fire up tvtime on that channel, the image goes to colour and stays that way, both within tvtime and on the ZM monitor.
If I'm monitoring two channels, firing up tvtime on any channel causes tvtime to fail to load, and ZM is unable to access the card until tvtime is closed down.
I've tried using a number of different card types with modprobe, all with the same results. Has anyone got any pointers for me to help sort this out. Or maybe this some kind of limitation of the card?
