ZMU errors and setting the camera

Trying to get a camera installed.
It works just fine in xawtv and have been trying to get the settings to use to add the device to the ZM console as per the instructions in the manual
This is what I get
neil@Kubuntu:~$ zmu -d <0> -q -v
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `0'
neil@Kubuntu:~$ zmu -d 0 -q -v
Aborted (core dumped)
neil@Kubuntu:~$ sudo zmu -d 0 -q -v
Password:
Error, failed to open video device 0: No such file or directory
neil@Kubuntu:~$ zmfix -a
Aborted (core dumped)
neil@Kubuntu:~$
There is also a mention of changing something in ZM config, I have found it, but it is blank.
Any ideas?
Neil
