I have problems with 0.9.16 zoneminder streaming to MozillaFirebird 0.7 browser:
a) if I start browser freshly I can stream but stream stops time to time - refreshing browser window starts it again and it streams until next stop
b) if I try to stream again same cam (for example I switch to stills and then back to stream) then I can't stream until I restart browser freshly - it shows broken image instead and refreshing window doesn't help
c) its probably related to browser cache because clearing cache helps without restarting browser
d) in montage window its quite common that not all cams are streaming - clearing cache doesnt seem to help nor browser restart
ok enough about problems....I'm sure we'll get these sorted out.
I also would like to get an opinions about zoneminder and a lot of cams attached to it - say some 16 - 32 cams. Will zoneminder be capable of handling whole thing? Stability?

Re: 0.9.16 image streaming and MozillaFirebird problems
Hi Andres,
I wonder if your caching problems are related to the bug that is listed on one of the threads in the 'General Forum'. The URL for the buzzilla entry is <a href="http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121084" target="_blank">http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=121084</a> if you want to take a look.
Regarding having loads of cameras I can't make any definitive statement as I've never tested it with this many. I don't know whether you will be doing motion detection etc with all of them but I think so long as RAM and disk don't fill up then stability should not be too much of an issue though performance might be reduced. If you can give me a few more details of what you intend to do I might be able to come up with something a bit more useful.
Cheers,
Phil,

Re: 0.9.16 image streaming and MozillaFirebird problems
I'm planning to build video surveillance machine with 2-4 Ituner Spectra 8 or LMLBT44 cards (using multiplexing which doubles inputs per card - aka 16-32 inputs total). Frame rate doesn't need to be high - I think 5fps is enough. Motion detection on cameras would be nice in order to save disk space. As I need archives dateing back max. 2 weeks I'm going to need a huge storage - I think I'll use LVM and make an storage array out of 4 200-250G disks, so I would get near 1TB. Cameras will be local - maybe 1-2 network ones too.
Does anyone had experience with Ituner Spectra 8 or LMLBT44 cards to share? Which one would be better choice?

Re: 0.9.16 image streaming and MozillaFirebird problems
Hello.
I'm having similar streaming problems using ZM-1.17.0. Kernel 2.4.21 (bttv driver), mozilla 1.4:
Streaming works for some time, then it freezes or shows a broken image. If I resize the image, reload the page, etc it sometimes starts streaming again (until the next freeze). It's just impossible to use the streaming :(
I started playing with zoneminder two days ago and so far this is the only major problem I'm facing. Is there a way to force the usage of the cambozola plugin on mozilla? (I still don't know how it works, but it looks like it's automatically loaded after some sort of browser detection, right?)
Thanks,
- Ademar

BTW,
Andres: what about that setup with a lot of cameras? Did you run any tests?

Re: 0.9.16 image streaming and MozillaFirebird problems
The only way at present to force the use of the plugin would be to edit zm_funcs.php and change the isNetscape function to return false unconditionally.
I started work on allowing this to be an option a few weeks ago but ran into a couple of problems and never got round to finishing it. I will bump it up the list.

Ademar: I still haven't got the multi input frame grabber card - probably it takes some weeks more to get it. I'll let you know my testing results then. Unreliable streaming is a serious issue for production setups but I'm sure its solvable.
