I am running a 1.8ghz Duron with 512mb ram. I was wondering what speed processors everyone had got zm running on and now well they run. right now i only have 2 cams and its running perfectly.

I built a machine around the Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 (Conroe 1.86GHz) It has 4MB of L2 cache... with 2GB of RAM, I have had no lag or challenges with the system to date running 2 cameras @ 640x480x24 bit color.

I just ordered 3 more cameras (bluecherry's Topica TP-550TVL-DN) and am using their PV-183 card. Theoretically, I should be able to get 8 cameras / 240 fps = 30 fps per camera, but I believe the BT878 card has a limit of around 20 fps per chip.

The PC can handle up to 2 more full-size PCI cards... but I imagine that 8 cameras for my current customer will be the maximum.

Hope that this helps.

16 cams at 320 by 240 with a 4 chip card. (120 fps) 2.8 ghz Pentium D with 2 gig. Works well unless I try to load firefox and view more than 8 streams locally. :)
